RAMBAN : Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan conducted an extensive inspection of the ongoing four-laning works on National Highway-44 (NH-44) between Ramban and Banihal on Friday, reviewing the progress of construction at several key locations.During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner visited Digdol, Panthyal, Magerkote, Ramsoo, Nachilana, Gangru and Kishtwari Pather to assess the status of ongoing works and identify bottlenecks affecting the pace of construction.

The DC was accompanied by SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hamid, SDM Ramsoo Sayed Mazahir Hussain Shah, SDM Banihal Mohammad Naseeb Bajran and other concerned officers.At the inspection sites, the Deputy Commissioner held discussions with NHAI Project Director Shubham Yadav and representatives of the executing agencies. He directed them to accelerate the pace of construction, address operational bottlenecks and ensure that the remaining works are completed within the stipulated timeline.

The Deputy Commissioner also emphasised the need to maintain safe and smooth traffic movement along the highway, particularly in view of the ongoing movement of nomadic livestock, the fruit season and the consequent increase in vehicular traffic.Special directions were issued at Gangru regarding proper clearance of road shoulders to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles on the double carriageway and minimise traffic disruptions.

The DC stressed that construction activities must be carried out with due regard to road safety and public convenience. He directed all concerned agencies to maintain close coordination with the district administration and traffic authorities so that ongoing works do not unnecessarily affect the movement of commuters and commercial traffic.The administration reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring the progress of the NH-44 four-laning project and ensuring timely completion of the works while prioritising road safety and uninterrupted traffic movement.
