DC Ramban Assures Annual Continuation of Googlidhar Surniser Pahari Folk Festival; Tourism Promotion Gets Fresh Push

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 7: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, along with SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, visited Googlidhar Surniser in Pogal to attend the two-day Mega Pahari Ethnic Folk Festival, organised to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage and folk traditions of the region.The festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, artists and cultural performers, with traditional music, folk songs and dance performances providing a vibrant glimpse into the diverse cultural identity of the Pahari region.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan appreciated the organisers, artists and local community for their efforts in preserving and promoting the region's traditional culture. He said that such events have the potential to emerge as important platforms for cultural promotion as well as tourism development in the scenic Pogal-Paristan belt.The Deputy Commissioner assured the gathering that efforts would be made to continue the festival on an annual basis. He further stated that he would take up the matter with the Tourism Department and explore possibilities for giving the event greater institutional support and wider recognition in the coming years.

Highlighting the tourism potential of the area, the DC said that the picturesque landscape, rich cultural traditions and local heritage of Pogal-Paristan could attract visitors and provide new opportunities for the local population.The event also witnessed the participation of MLA Ramban Arjun Singh Raju and SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, among other officials, public representatives, artists and local residents.A traditional Thali Dance performance emerged as one of the major attractions of the festival, enthralling the audience with its energetic presentation and traditional cultural expressions. The performance was met with loud cheers and applause from the gathering.

A soulful Gojri folk song performance also captivated the audience, showcasing the region's rich musical heritage and traditional folk culture. The performances by local artists reflected the cultural diversity of the area and received appreciation from the gathering.The two-day festival aims to provide a platform for local artists to showcase their talent while strengthening efforts towards preservation of traditional art, music and cultural practices. At the same time, the event seeks to place the scenic Pogal-Paristan region on the tourism map by showcasing its natural beauty and cultural richness.The assurance by the Deputy Commissioner to explore the festival's continuation as an annual event has been welcomed by locals and cultural enthusiasts, who believe that sustained promotion of the festival could help boost tourism and provide greater opportunities for local artists and communities.
